Scottsdale Ranch is a master-planned lakefront community on the eastern edge of Central Scottsdale (zip code 85258). This area was originally part of a 4,200 acre working ranch, where owners Fowler and Anne McCormick raised black Angus cattle and Arabian horses. When the land was sold to Kaiser-Aetna in 1970 following Anne's death, 1,120 acres were sold off the become Scottsdale Ranch while the rest became McCormick Ranch. The signature feature is the 42 acre Lake Serena with over 5 miles of meandering shoreline, and is part of the Indian Bend Greenbelt System.

This community includes nearly 4,000 homes in over 40 subdivisions, built from 1984 on. Housing styles include apartments, patio homes, condos, townhouses, and single family homes. Many offer waterfront views. All communities require rental terms of at least 30 days, so short term rentals are not permitted.

Amenities include the 64 acre Scottsdale Ranch Park and Tennis Center, donated by the City of Scottsdale, which boasts a plethora of outdoor activities. Also nearby are the Via Linda Senior Center and the Scottsdale Ranch Mercado Shopping Center. Shopping and dining abound along 90th St as well, and Costco is just a few miles north.

Scottsdale Ranch is in Central Scottsdale just south of Shea Blvd from 96th Street east to 112th Street. It is minutes from the Loop 101, the Talking Stick Entertainment District, and Downtown Scottsdale. Honor Health Scottsdale Shea Medical Center and Mayo Clinic are also nearby.
